Display
The move from a 90Hz LCD display to a Super AMOLED panel is one of the key hardware modifications on the Realme 8 over the Realme 7. To begin with, the display has been reduced in size to 6.4 inches, down from 6.5 inches. It’s not a big reduction in size, and the aspect ratio remains at 20:9, which is very normal these days.
Performance & Memory
The MediaTek Helio G95 chipset powers the Realme 8. This is the same one as in Realme 7. It does not, however, use either the Snapdragon 720G found in the Realme 8 Pro or the MediaTek Dimensity 800U featured in the Realme 8 5G.
For want of a better description, the Helio G95 isn’t the most “eye-catching” budget chipset on the market, but it’s still a good deal at this price point and capable of holding its own.
The G95 comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, placing it in the middle of the memory SKUs available.
Camera
The camera on the Realme 8 is excellent. At least, that’s how it appears on paper. On the back, there are four snappers in total. The 64MP primary Quad-Bayer camera will most likely be the main attraction. It has a Sony IMX682 sensor (1/1.73″, 0.8m) behind an f/1.8 lens, according to AIDA64. Other than PDAF, it’s decent, if not particularly unique. There’s no OIS or advanced autofocus. The Realme 8 does, however, include gyro-based EIS for videos. The Realme 8 features a 16MP IMX471 sensor for selfies.
Rest of the specs
The 5,000 mAh battery from the Realme 7 has been carried over to the Realme 8. The MediaTek Helio G95 chipset is no exception. The combination of Android 11 and Realme UI 2.0 is a fresh one. With a couple of new Dark Mode designs, redesigned floating and micro windows, and improved security, this latest edition of Realme’s custom UI is more customizable than ever.
Conclusion
The Realme 8 is a great phone overall. It has a beautiful design, excellent camera quality, and plenty of features and functionality. It is also affordable, which makes it a great option for anyone looking for an affordable smartphone.
